Waterbury resident Harry Bright - also known as “Buddy Bright,” pleaded guilty to one count of distribution of obscene matter to a minor in federal court on Thursday, John Durham, the United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut announced.

According to court documents and statements made in court, in November last year, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) contacted Homeland Security Investigations to report that they had been notified by Facebook’s Trust and Safety team that Bright was attempting to entice a 15-year-old girl through Facebook instant messaging to engage in sexual activity, and was planning on traveling to the Philippines on Dec. 4, last year, to meet the minor.

The investigation determined that Bright started communicating with the minor victim in late August last year, sent her sexually explicit messages and requested that she send him nude photographs of herself.  In September last year, Bright sent the minor victim nude pictures of himself. It was later determined that Bright had engaged in sexually explicit conversations with at least two other 15-year-old females in the Philippines through Facebook, and that he sent one of those minor victims a nude picture of himself.

Bright was arrested on the federal charges on Dec. 4 last year. He is currently released on $75,000 bond and is due back in court on Sept. 11 for sentencing, when he will face up to 10 years in prison.
